On Noah's Ark by Jan Brett

With simple language and one of her shortest texts, Jan Brett artfully tells the story of Noah through the eyes of his granddaughter.

As flood waters rise, animals board the ark—big and small, from land, air and sea. It is not so easy for Noah’s granddaughter to keep so many animals calm and content. But the gentle rocking of the ark lulls them to sleep, and the little girl untangles them and falls asleep herself between the paws of a dozing lion.

Just as in the traditional story, after forty days and forty nights, a dove brings back a green leaf, and as the water recedes, the ark lands safely.
